It is estimated that more than 340,000 Australians live with dementia. As the population is ageing, these numbers are likely to increase to more than 900,000 by 2050. For people aged 65 and over, dementia was the leading cause of disability burden in 2011 and in 2013 it was the second leading cause of death.
