The filename of the photograph must use the following naming protocol: Surname-TitleOfPhoto. For example, Smith-SunriseAtCoolumQld.

A professional photographer will be heading the judging panel. The panel will select the best 24 photographs for the 2027 calendar, with each calendar month showcasing one large and one small photograph across the two-page spread. Entries are assessed for originality, inspiration, clear focus, and creativity of subject matter.

The panel will consider how each photograph complements the overall calendar.

All decisions are final. 

  • Open to residents of Australia and New Zealand only. 
  • The photograph will be an urban or rural scene, or a plant or animal composition. No photographs of people. The photograph is to be taken within Australia or New Zealand.  
  • The orientation of the photograph will be landscape.
  • The photograph will be a minimum of 300dpi and 8 x 12 inch and will be sent to Lutheran Media as a jpeg file via the upload section above.
  • The filename of the photograph must use the following naming protocol: Surname-TitleOfPhotograph. For example, Smith-SunriseAtCoolumQLD.
  • You may provide no more than five entries. By entering the competition, you agree to these entry guidelines.
  • Ensure that the composition of the photograph allows for a Bible verse to be placed upon the photograph.
  • The photograph must be in its original state with no techniques used that add, relocate, replace, or remove pictorial elements. Cropping of the photograph is permitted. Techniques that enhance the presentation of the photograph without changing the nature story or the pictorial content, or without altering the content of the original scene, are permitted however the use of AI is not permitted.
  • By submitting the photograph, the photographer gives Lutheran Media permission to use the photograph within the 2027 calendar, the Lutheran Media and Messages of hope websites and in other promotions as determined by Lutheran Media.
  • You may retain ownership of the photograph for personal use. However, the photograph is not to be used by yourself for commercial gain. In submitting your entry, you license all the rights to use the photograph to Lutheran Media. You grant Lutheran Media the right to:
    a) Publish or create new works using the photograph (in whole or part) on the Lutheran Media and Messages of hope websites, and within eNewsletters, social media and any printed publication.
    b) Incorporate the photograph in any way and in any form, media or technology, for any for any purpose.
    c) Distribute or otherwise deal with the photograph at our sole discretion for an unlimited period.
  • Provide a suggestion of a Bible verse that complements the photograph. Use the New International Version (NIV) or New International Version – UK (NIVUK). Note that Lutheran Media reserves the right to choose an alternative verse that provides an appropriate balance for the calendar as a whole.
  • Entries close at close of business on 31 May 2026.
  • Winners to be announced via email by 1 August 2026.
