For 80 years Lutheran Media have been providing Christian content across radio stations in Australia and New Zealand – and now across multiple digital platforms – sharing hope in Jesus.
It was 2 September 1945, that The Lutheran Hour was first broadcast on Australian radio. The founder of the International Lutheran Hour, Dr Walter A. Maier, was heard on 36 stations in all capital cities and many large rural centres around Australia. Records show that 106 people responded by mail to that first program and 45 pounds was received in donations.
Now, with over 7 million listeners and a faithful supporter base we want to thank God for our supporters and communities, and reminisce on our achievements.
In 2025, Lutheran Media will be highlighting inspiring stories of hope as we gather for key events:
Saturday 21st June 2025 – VIP ‘Thank you’ Lunch, Kies Family Wines, Barossa Valley SA
Sunday 31st August 2025 – Supporters High Tea, Concordia College, Toowoomba QLD
Sunday 2nd November 2025 – 80th Anniversary Thanksgiving worship service and Lunch, St Michael’s Lutheran Church, Hahndorf SA
All are invited! So, save the date for one or more event as we celebrate 80 years of blessings and God’s faithfulness.
Tania Nelson, Manager
PS We’re also launching a Lutheran Media history booklet in March 2025. Stay tuned for details!
