Creation Care 1 BGROUND

Caring for creation: home and community

‘Every little element that I see, and I touch, and I hear, and I feel, is all part of God’s creation. In what I do in my yard, in what I do on my verge on my side street, I care for God’s creation. We can see it groaning at times and we need to respond.

How many men face mental health challenges due to work or life stressors but feel unable to talk about it? Statistics show it is a lot more than we may even realise.

Can we get personal for a moment? How’s your relationship going?

Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus says: ‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.’

We all know that love is the key to all good relationships, but what if you’re just not feeling it? When our world is rocked by crisis, depression, sickness or hardship, it’s hard to be strong for our loved ones. This month, we hear stories of men’s mental health, broken relationships, and the challenge of not being able to provide for your family.

When all hope is lost, and we can’t summon the strength to be strong for our family, what do we do? There are many stories of people who’ve hit rock bottom and turned to addictive habits, been overwhelmed by depression or anxiety, or become physically ill from stress and worry.

But we have the greatest healer of all time on our side. Jesus says in Matthew 11:28 ‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.’ What a great comfort it is to know we can trust in his strength, when we have none. We can come to him with our greatest burdens and we will be lifted up. We can trust in a hope and a future because he loves us without exception.
